The Norwegian Law on ship safety implements central IMO Conventions – SOLAS, 1974, The Safety of Life at Sea Convention, MARPOL 73/78 – The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973/78, and STCW – The Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers, 1978. Thus it is aligned with EU legislation, such as the Regulations on maritime safety and the prevention of pollution from ships.
